The Gamorrean Guards were first introduced in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and anyone with two eyes and a heart instantly fell for these furry diapered chonky bois. The green-skinned porcine humanoids known as Gamorreans are from an Outer Rim planet called Gamorr. These piggies are often in the employ of crime lord Jabba the Hutt. They have a language of their own that may sound like mere grunts and squeals to anyone unaware. Absent from the film were Gamorrean subtitles for the Jabba’s Palace force choke scene. Better yet, when the Rancor turned one into a pork pop.
How could you not dig these Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi The Black Series Gamorrean Guards action figures? Sure, their stubby limbs don’t lend themselves to that much flexibility and range. But, Hasbro did fairly well in this department considering that screen accuracy appears to be a driving force. This little piggy has double-jointed knees, which isn’t always a given in this line. And, in areas that might be lacking (like the head that can’t quite turn left to right), we do get upgrades like the articulated jaw. While you might be limited on extreme poses, you also don’t get that awkward gapping that allows for a greater range common with imports. The Black Series’ latest features and details, including advancements like digitally printed paint applications, are starting to make the line a no-brainer when compared again to those a hundred dollar a pop imports. While The Black Series Gamorrean Guard does retail for higher than the average figure in the line, this one is packed with great sculpts, paint apps, and even a quality soft goods fur piece. Who doesn’t need this Star Wars swine on their shelf? In fact, who doesn’t need two? Or, three?!
