A Spooky Painting Contest

With the awesome success of our first painting competition we’ve decided to do it again! This time though, there’s a twist.

We want to see what kind of Halloween themed miniature you can paint. You’ll have until October 28th to send us pictures of your freshly painted and spooky mini. Feel free to think outside the box! It can be cute, funny, scary (If your miniature has too much gore we cannot count it. The winners will be posted on our social media and we’d like to keep it appropriate for families. PG-13 and below), or epic as long as it reminds us of Halloween.

Submitting Your Miniature

You can submit your miniature through many different channels. Before you send us your pictures please make sure you take an extra second to take a quality picture. We want to see the detail you put into it! Don’t let fuzzy pixels stop you from winning. We recommend placing your miniature in front of a blank background (like a white sheet of paper) before taking your photo.

Rules

25-40 mm scale figure or mounted figure that falls within the size restriction. This includes base and mount. Judges will determine if any elements extending beyond the size restrictions matter. Size restrictions: 2″ wide x 2″ deep x 2.5″ tall.

1. Entries must be submitted in person by the painter and must be the work of the painter submitting them, or else be disqualified.
2. You may not enter any miniature that has previously won any type of prize or award in any other competition.
3. Only one (1) entry per person. An entry may be refused if it is too large.
4. All entries must be in good taste and are subject to disqualification if the judges decide that any common rule has been violated.
5. Conversions and base scenics may contribute overall to a miniature’s ranking but are not the primary consideration for judging. Judges will rank entries based on painting technique, neatness, skill in execution, coherent color scheme, and overall appearance. The judging team consists of notable artists in the miniature-painting community who are well versed in the craft, and their decisions are final.
6. The greatest care will be afforded to all entries, by staff who share a passion for the miniature-painting hobby.
7. All entries into the competition indicate permission for TC’s Rockets to use such images for any purpose, including posting to the online photo gallery.
